Dear Ones
To update you on our school...
1) All the children have settled down
very well, and we had our first term
test, the children have done very
well. They have got a good
understanding of numbers and
alphabets. They enjoy their rhymes.
2) The test was more for the teachers
and us, to understand where each child
needed more attention-not for grading.
There was no mark sheets distributed,
rather a parent meeting has been
called for to tell the parents about
their children.
3) Sultana has shown remarkable
progress. Though she has Downs
syndrome, Thanks to Ms Anuradha and
our teachers she is being integrated
very well. All of us were pleasantly
surprised when she told her name
clearly to Ms Meena during a dance
class
4) Ms Sajitha R Shankar, an artist,
who has won innumerable awards for her
works, takes time to teach art to our
children. Many many thanks to her. The
children's works are put up in the
classrooms. The kids love this class.
5) Swami Sudhanandaji, from the Yogoda
Satsanga Society of India, visited our
school, meditated with the children
and blessed our school by his
presence. We look forward to many more
of his visits :-)
6)Ms Natalie Cornish, from Australia,
a teacher by proffession, who
practises Shorinji Kempo, has come
down all the way from Australia, to
stay with us for at least 3 months and
help teach the kids. They love the
games she plays with them, by means of
which she teaches them. The Ayahs too
join in and there is plenty of
laughter along with learning. She has
been taking a few of the kempo classes
too. All are welcome to join in :-)
7) Mr S Ravi Shankar a renowned
artist, has been lovingly generous to
donate 30% from the sale of his
paintings, being exhibited at Alliance
Francaise, Chennai.
The exhibition is
going on until 20th of Oct. All are
welcome.
8) Kempo still remains the hot
favourite for the children and SPECIAL
thanks to all the kenshis' for
teaching the children so well. I
believe we are creating something
unique here....
Thanks to all of you for making this
school take shape. We have plenty of
work ahead..... and I am sure we will
rise to greater heights through your
loving participation.
